KAY-LEE DE SANDERS
Young people hold the future. In our series ''FOUR the Future'' we put a spotlight on these young talents and their skills. Meet Kay-Lee de Sanders, a Dutch/Surinamese soccer player: "The biggest lesson is that you should always believe in yourself, even when you feel that others don't or don't believe in you as much. You must believe that you can achieve anything you want. It sounds very cliché, but it's true.".
WHEN DID YOU START YOUR CAREER IN SOCCER?
I think I was about 14 years old. I received an offer from a modeling agency and thought it sounded interesting. However, they told me I would have to do pilates, which is like ballet, and I didn't want to do that. So, I decided to focus on soccer instead, and that's when I seriously committed to doing everything I could to pursue it.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU LEARNED OVER THE PAST YEARS?
The biggest lesson is that you should always believe in yourself, even when you feel that others don't or don't believe in you as much. You must believe that you can achieve anything you want. It sounds very cliché, but it's true.

IF YOU CAN GIVE AN AMBITIOUS YOUNGSTER SOME WORDS OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Don't let yourself be pressured by society; a lot is expected of you, especially now with all the social media and such. Keep your head straight, choose your own happiness, and do what makes you happy. Don't let yourself be pressured, because time is short. Enjoy life and make your dreams come true.
