Fear of God
Jerry Lorenzo Manuel, the founder of Fear of God, is the son of retired Major League Baseball manager Jerry Manuel. Young Lorenzo moved from school to school all over America as a result of his father's work. He was exposed to a wide range of societal influences as a result, which now inform his label. Fear of God is the name of the company because Lorenzo grew up in a Christian household and still finds great motivation from his religion. The company is a tangible representation of many of Lorenzo's passions, from baseball to his all-time favorite bands, like Metallica, as well as his strong belief in God. Ironically, according to Lorenzo, the title "Fear of God" alludes to both the strength of religion and his childhood struggles with it. Whatever the name's actual meaning, Lorenzo is always eager to take credit away from himself. Rather, he gives God praise for his achievement.
