About Moncler
The name is an acronym for Monestier-de-Clermont, a hamlet in the French mountains close to Grenoble that was established in 1952 by René Ramillon and André Vincent. The duo started out making quilted sleeping bags and tents, which became increasingly popular as mountain vacations gained popularity. The original quilted jackets were designed to keep laborers warm in the winter.
