About Jil Sander
Before establishing her first shop in 1967 in Hamburg at the age of just 24, Sander started her career as a fashion editor at the German magazine Petra. Thierry Mugler, Sonia Rykiel, and her own designs were all carried in the store. In 1968, Sander established the Jil Sander brand. Modesty founded the company in Hamburg. Under the creative direction of husband-and-wife duo Lucie and Luke Meier, the German house retains its recognizable minimal aesthetic through architectural shapes and slick, narrow cuts.
